VMware Cloud Foundation 5.2 Administrator (2V0-11.24) Exam Experience

This was the first of two new VCP "VCF" Exams that I wanted to take as soon as possible after their release date, in this post I will aim to provide some detail on how I went about preparing for the Administrator variant of exam along with my overall experience and thoughts on how it differs in comparison to the traditional VMware VCP Administrator exam, which is now changed to the VCP - VVF Administrator exam.

The exam is a 70-question multiple choice in a limited time of 135mins.

The links below helped me in preparation although as the VCF Admin and Architect exams had only just been released at the time of writing there wasn't a huge amount of information available online.

  • The First port of call is the blueprint for the exam from Broadcom https://docs.broadcom.com/doc/vmware-vcf-specialist-2V0-1124-exam-preparation-guide
  • If you are brand new to VCF then try to get access to the VCF Install, Configure, Manage course this will help greatly in preparation to sit the exam and covers a good chunk of what is mentioned in the exam blueprint, you will also have access to a simulated lab during the course allowing you to get "hands on" with the VCF platform
  • I found running through the process of deploying and setting up a base VCF 5.2 installation in my home helped recap and cover a lot of the config style questions that came up in the exam, VCF does require a relatively high amount of resource to deploy, one of the most cost effective ways of doing this is to use a "nested" solution. I would suggest looking this blog post by William Lam or at the VCF Holodeck site to get VCF up and running smoothly in a home lab scenario.
  • Lastly the latest VCF Technical documentation can be found here https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/vmware-cis/vcf.html

The Exam itself I thought was no more challenging than the traditional VCP Admin exam accept it covered the broader scope of the full VCF stack, so on top of the usual vSphere, ESXi, network and storage questions expect similar style questions on SDDC manager, NSX-T and the Full Aria Suite of products.

Time should be managed carefully however for me I find it less of an issue on these technical style multiple choice exams compared to the design based ones.

My standard approach with both technical and design type exams is the same, run through the entire question bank once, marking any that I’m unsure on, then revisit those for a second pass at the end.

Try to not dwell too much on questions you are really struggling on, I never do more than a second pass, and always pick one answer for every question on the first pass even if its flagged this will help at the end if you are tight on time.

I hope this provides some insight into what is needed to pass the VMware Cloud Foundation 5.2 Administrator (2V0-11.24) Exam

As Always thank you for reading and I hope this helped !
